Will the color change occur on the stein if it’s freezing outside?
The color change occurs as a result of difference in temperature between the content of the stein, and the stein itself. If your event is outside in the freezing cold, and your steins have been outside long enough that they too are freezing cold, and you pour freezing cold liquid into the stein, there won’t be enough temperature variation to produce a significant color change. More importantly: If it’s that cold outside shouldn’t you be taking your party indoors anyway?
