The 2024 Pantone Color of the Year is Here!

What is the Pantone Color of the Year?

The 2024 Pantone Color of the Year is Peach Fuzz. (The complete name is PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz.) At first glance, it’s a much softer, understated pick than Viva Magenta, the 2023 color.

Who Decides the Pantone Color of the Year?

The Pantone Color Institute is responsible for determining the Color of the Year, and has done so since 2000. And a lot goes into choosing the right shade…after all, every Pantone color carries messages and meanings.

According to Pantone, choosing the color “requires thoughtful consideration and trend analysis. Including the entertainment industry and films in production, art collections and new artists, fashion, all areas of design, popular travel destinations, as well as new lifestyle, playstyles and socio-economic conditions. Influences may also stem from new technologies, materials, textures…relevant social media platforms and even upcoming sporting events that capture worldwide attention.”

What Is Pantone?

Pantone began as a commercial printing company in the 1950s, and became well-known for their “Pantone Matching System,” which launched in 1963. This matching system is an innovative tool that allows for consistent, accurate color matching through a numbering system. In 1986, Pantone established the Pantone Color Institute, which specializes in forecasting color trends.

What Does ‘Peach Fuzz’ Mean?

Pantone describes this shade as “a velvety gentle peach whose all-embracing spirit enriches mind, body, and heart. A warm and cozy shade highlighting our desire for togetherness with others and the feelings this creates, PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz presents a fresh approach to new softness. Subtly sensual…a heartfelt peach hue bringing a feeling of tenderness and communicating a message of caring and sharing, community and collaboration. Highly suggestive of good taste, PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz is a gift to the senses, creating a symbiotic relationship between our sense of taste, sight, touch, and scent.”

In a time when self-care and coziness are top-of-mind for so many people, we definitely feel that Peach Fuzz—and the feelings it invokes—are right on for 2024.

How Can I Use Peach Fuzz in My Marketing?

Because Peach Fuzz is such a neutral shade, you can jump on this trend without compromising your brand colors.
